We're delighted to announce that we'll be publishing a special issue in Autumn 2022 focusing on Taiwan fiction and poetry. For this issue, we're teaming up with the Leeds Centre for New Chinese Writing, with the generous support of Spotlight Taiwan. And we're very happy that Evelyn Hsieh, from the National Taipei University of Education, will be co-editing.
Arising from a recent symposium at the University of Leeds, we'll be featuring stories by Yang Shuangzi, who's well known for her time-travelling yuri (girls love) fiction, and Chi Ta-wei, whose novel The Membranes (translated by Ari Larissa Heinrich) has been gaining rave reviews, as well as poetry by Salizan Takisvilainan, who explores his Bunun identity in his work. We're also open to submissions from other writers and translators. Please see our submission guidelines for details of payment rates.
As always, we'll be publishing all stories and poems in both the original language and in English translation. And we'll be featuring interviews and author spotlight features on our blog. Watch this space for news and updates!
